I am so excited for all of you who are almost done! Congratulations!

I fell even futher behind this last week. I’m w-a-y back in Mark. Still reading and I will get done when I get done. I would appreciate any prayers to help me push to get it done and help me see small bits of time that I can use to read.

Checking in. Still behind, but two-steps-forward-one-step-back catching up. (That’s a weird sentence and an unusual adverb.)

And I am happy to report that I made it to the New Testament. What a contrast: prophets to gospels.

Bible in 90 Days tenth week, mid-week update

March 11, 2011

I know it is not a check in day, but I just wanted to say that…

I am through Isaiah, Jeremiah and Lamentations! That was tough, tough, tough for me. Parts of it are beautiful, but it was still hard.

I figured out that Isaiah, Jeremiah and Lamentations are 121 pages and Ezekiel, Daniel and all the minor prophets are 106 pages. So in addition to being 2/3 the way through the Bible, I am over half-way through those prophets.

It occurs to me that I should pray to have my eyes opened to the prophets….
I already pray briefly before I read. I read a stanza of Psalm 119, moving a little sticky arrow each time. What I think I need to do is ask God to make me love the prophets and cause the prophets to be meaningful to me. I am still a week to a week and a half behind.

Bible in 90 Days eleventh week check-in with Mom's Toolbox

I am so late in checking in!

This week is Spring Break and I am all turned around. I keep feeling like it is Saturday and tomorrow is Sunday!

I am still working on it, but judging from the posts, I think I am bringing up the rear!

Still in the Minor Prophets, but I can see that New Testament in the distance…. I addition to my time being turned around, I wanted to be able to sayI had made it to the New Testament, so there was some procrastination in posting my check-in and some pride going on, too. Yuck.

My 55-year-old eyes need new glasses and it is slowing me down! I put on some of those magnifiers and wow! What a difference. Reading speed immediately picked up.

The prophets’ words are already difficult because of what they say and how they say it. When you can’t really see the words clearly, it is even slower going! I should be able to say I’m in the NT at our check-in next week.

Checking in. I’m still reading and still behind, but at least I am consistent (sheepish grin).

But you know what? At least I am doing this and doing this, even if behind, is better than not doing it!

I have so many blessings from this, but most of all is kind of an intangible difference in my day-to-day spirituality. I have decided that I am someone who needs large portions of scripture daily. (I’ve never gotten much out of most daily devotionals with just a few scriptures to read. With the big exception of My Utmost for His Highest. That is a great one!)

So I may be someone who gets the challenge done, but in 95 or 100 days. God’s will be done!

I almost decided to give up last night. (Can you believe it?) Then I thought about how happy that would make the enemy….
