Well, it looks like I forgot to post my May 1 scripture. This month is flying by!

April 15th Verse: Siesta Scripture Memory Team 2013, Living Proof Ministries

I am participating in this memory challenge again with Beth Moore's living proof ministries.

This is a challenge to memorize two verses a month for the year.

Beth has instructions here, including information on the event that will happen in early 2014 for those who have checked in at least 21 of the 24 times on the blog, who bring a spiral with the verses written in it, and who able to recite the verses to another participant.

Since I plan to memorize Romans 1, 8 and 12 with Ann Voskamp at A Holy Experience, I will probably frequently use those verses for this challenge.

From Romans, chapter 1:

April 1

²⁴ Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. ²⁵ They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

April 15

Siesta Scripture Memory Team 2013: Living Proof Ministries

I am participating in this memory challenge again with Beth Moore's living proof ministries.

This is a challenge to memorize two verses a month for the year. Those of us who are participating post our verse on the blog post calling for verses on the 1st and the 15th of the month. It is so cool that there are usually well over one thousand comments -- over one thousand women striving to memorize God's Word! (Far more than that in January!)

I missed the celebration after the 2011 challenge, even though I was qualified to go.

I just ordered my spiral from the store. 

Since I plan to memorize Romans 1, 8 and 12 with Ann Voskamp at A Holy Experience, I will probably frequently use those verses for this challenge.

Siesta Scripture Memory Team: Living Proof Ministries November 15th

Memory verse from October 15th:

Funny how we have a Bible of 66 books, filled with the gospel (good news), letters, history, prophecy and laws. And it is so powerful that you could spend your life working on three verses. (Granted, you wouldn't want to just open and point to three verses and try to live by those--people do that and are disappointed when it is not something meaningful to them--but there are many, many verses you could spend a lifetime trying to master.)

I just love the Word of God so much!

Siesta Scripture Memory Team: Living Proof Ministries October 15th

My Siesta Scripture Memory Team Verses for October 15th:

Colossians 3:12:

12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

("Clothe yourself" makes me think of slipping on a comfortable coat.)

One day late posting my memory verse to the Living Proof Ministry blog, but this is my verse:



Yet it was the LORD’s will to crush him and cause him to suffer,

Siesta Scripture Memory Team: Living Proof Ministries Blog, 5/1

This was my verse for April 15th:

Isaiah 54:4 “Do not be afraid; you will not be put to shame.

and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

This is my verse for May 1st:

Isaiah 54:5 For your Maker is your husband—
the LORD Almighty is his name—
the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;
he is called the God of all the earth.

Siesta Scripture Memory Team: Living Proof Ministries Blog, 4/15

I have been participating in this challenge with many others at Beth Moore's blog, Living Proof Ministries.

I even bought the cute spiral-bound index cards to keep track of my verses.

Beth's is a simple system that is working. I tend to go for the perfect, complicated systems in life (and they don't usually work for me), so this is good. The rules are here. This is my summation of them:

*Commit to a verse on the first and fifteenth of the month.

*Post it in the Siesta Scripture Memory Team post for that day. Try not to post late.

*Write it in my spiral. (Put spiral back in purse.)

*Try to remember to read it, review it and say it as often as possible. Eventually memorize it.

Biggest challenge has been picking the verses. (Again, with this feeling that I have to do it perfectly....) I have a lot from Isaiah, because of this year's BSF study.

And, I have included more verses in my spiral than I have posted in the SSMT posts, so I am not really sure which ones I posted. Oh well, it will all work out!

This is my verse for April 15th:

The last verse made me catch my breath a little when I read it in my BSF study this year. I was married young and my husband wanted a divorce shortly after our first anniversary. Took me completely by surprise. There was another woman, who (or is it "whom"? I am never sure.) he married almost as soon as he could. Yes, I was rejected and distressed in spirit.

But my life turned out so much better than I could have ever imagined! This is so much better than that would have been.
